Kenneth Barker b 1942 

Kenneth is the eldest son of Joyce South and Harry Barker. His early promise was not realised. Kenneth spent 44 years in the insurance industry where he passed the time investigating the misfortunes of others. Since retiring in 2002 he has spent a sad life poring over dusty archives in pursuit of family and local history research. Married Judith Gunn in 1966. Children: Ruth, Elizabeth. 



Alice Barnard 1853-1936

Alice Barnard, born in Fleet Row, Holborn, married Samuel South(1) at All Hallows, Tottenham, in 1875. After the death of her husband in 1919, Alice moved from Snells Park to a house in Mount Pleasant, Tottenham, owned by the South Estate, where she lived with her unmarried daughters, Alice and Lily. Children: Samuel(2), Alice, Walter, Maud, John, Ethel, Arthur, Charles, Alfred, Lily.

Emma Bright 1824-1868

Emma Bright, the daughter of a brickmaker, was born in Barley and married Joseph South(1) at the Parish Church in 1844. By 1868, the year of her death, the family had settled in Edmonton where Joseph founded a pottery in Dysons Road. Children: Ann, Isabella, Joseph, Solomon, Samuel, Walter, Keziah, Arthur, Moses.



Mary Ann Dutton 1851-1916

After the death of his first wife, Emma Brightin 1868, Joseph South married Mary Ann Dutton, aged 19, the next year. In 1874 Joseph and Mary emigrated to New Zealand and settled in Dunedin where Joseph established a brickmaking business. Following the death of her husband in 1906, Mary married Richard Harris in 1914. Children: Daniel, Florence, Cordelia, Cornelius, Ernest, Evangeline, Henry, Emmaline, Elizabeth.
